Ph.D. in Social and Cultural Anthropology, Oxford University. Professor Cheung later became a postdoctoral researcher in Gender, Sexuality, Health, and Human Rights at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Her research is focused on sexuality with reference to sex work, human trafficking, women’s activism, and policymaking Her book, On the Move for Love: Migrant Entertainers and the U.S. Military in South Korea (University of Pennsylvania Press 2010) received the Distinguished Book Award of the Sexualities Section of the American Sociological Association in 2012. She is currently an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Research topics: sex work, human trafficking, women’s activism, and policymaking, HIV/AIDS campaigns and policies, HIV/AIDS advocacy campaigns and policies, transnational feminism, pedagogical issues in women’s and gender studies and Asian studies.
